Summer Hope Chamblin, daughter of fashion and stylist icon June Ambrose, is carving a path of her own. The soon-to-be Business & Management graduate wears multiple hats from student to content creator to founder and CEO of the new haircare line, Summer Hope Beauty. But balancing those different roles has not been the hardest part of her journey thus far.
“I graduated high school when I was 16 during COVID and that’s when I first found out about my health issues,” the Morgan State student told So Booking Cool. “I suffer from severe migraines everyday for the past six years and I’ve been in treatment for it, going on for four years now…I think the biggest battle I faced was definitely my health more than balancing my schedule.”
While Chamblin could schedule her classes and content calendar as she wished, her audience would notice she was posting on social media less and less. In between school, she was in and out of the hospital and using failed medications. The stress took a toll and caused hair loss.
“I didn’t really feel confident with myself,” she continued. “I was losing my hair. I didn’t feel like me. So I wasn’t really into taking a picture or promoting anything. I’m slowly getting back into it [social media] now that I’m at the better end of my health journey.”
One of her biggest motivations for Summer Hope Beauty she says is to help instill or regain confidence. The hair oil is just the start of the line, which is intended to expand with other hair products.
