It is not uncommon for people to feel that their college degree is useless. This was how YouTube creator Matt Wade felt about his Film Studies concentration. Before launching the detail., also known as The Michael Jackson Documentary Channel, for six years he started and ran the international fashion label, SHADE London, which garnered the attention of Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Kylie Jenner, and Ellie Goulding, to name a few. He also worked as a social media manager. While the entrepreneurial spirit was clearly already there, Wade now sees the connection between his time at the University of Sussex and what he does now.
“Because I went the fashion route, I thought ‘Oh, film wasn’t really relevant,’ but actually thinking about it now, it’s very similar,” Wade tells So Booking Cool. “What I did at University is essentially what I do now. I have to research a particular topic. I have to write essays about it. I have a deadline because I have to create a video every week. And I get marks at the end by looking at what people’s comments and what the views and stuff are. So, I’m pretty much at University still.”

The UK-based content creator has long since had an interest in media, film, and pop icons from the 80’s and 90’s, especially Michael Jackson. the detail., which features new insightful episodes weekly, has been viewed more than 100 million times.
