Award-winning filmmaker Nadhege (Nadehege Ptah) recently appeared on SBC to discuss her artistic and now literary journey, which includes the children’s book series Paris and Pop-Pop, illustrated by Imani Sharpe. Nadhege dishes on how the late-great Samuel Hargess II, who owned the legendary Harlem-based jazz and blues lounge inspired her; choosing to pursue her dreams in graduate school and how her family responded, as well as how she’s embraced the evolving career interests of her own children.
She also reflects on the importance of positive male role models—particularly grandfathers, which inspired one of her initiatives, Make Grandfathers Great Again. Press play to dive into the first part of this heartfelt conversation!
