“This is an event-TV kind of event. I was honored that ABC reached out to me personally and said ‘We want you to be a part of this documentary,'” Wooley told So Booking Cool. “And I was the very first one that they interviewed for the documentary.”
Wooley, a Harlem native, made history as the only Black man in the country to access exclusive paid-per-view and closed-circuit television broadcasting rights to the Mike Tyson vs. Michael Spinks boxing match. The fight made history during that time, grossing more than $70 million.
Before gaining prominence in the sports and television arenas, Wooley found success in music working with the likes of Stevie Wonder, James Brown, Run-D.M.C., Loretta Lynn, and Tony Bennett, to name a few. He also has collaborated with Dionne Warwick on multiple projects, including her book My Life, as I See It: An Autobiography.
